The end of buttons?

Pritam Pebam wrote an interesting post on The Death of Buttons, and has a screenshot of a ‘new and improved’ Google homepage (after they recently announced the launch of their Instant Search feature).

You can see here that the ‘Search’ and ‘I’m Feeling Lucky’ buttons are both gone.

I would love to see a Google without buttons from a UX standpoint…There are numerous ways that having automatic results and responses can help improve sites across the board.
