World Lens, on the fly image/ language translations

0

Eric Williamson showed me the demo of this earlier this week and this is a great use of augmented reality, unbelieveable!

“A new iPhone app known as Word Lens will translate Spanish or English phrases instantly on the screen when you point your device’s camera lens at the foreign language words.”

TCGi Launch Party

0

Launching a website means much more than moving files to a production server. For Local Wisdom, a website launch means a time to break out the bubbly! After launching TCGi’s website, www.technologyconcepts.com, the Local Wisdom team brought a bottle of champagne to the TCGi office and gave a toast to:

  • Teamwork – as we always say, “Team work makes the dream work,” and this site would not have launched in 5 weeks without full commitment from both Local Wisdom and TCGi.
  • Attention-to-detail – Thanks to our client, Avis, and her fantastic copy writing skills, we were able to flow content as we built the pages giving the project a very seamless build.
  • Passion – the best websites are always built from passionate players. This project was a true testament to both groups’ fervent ambition to see this site launch.

Cheers to TCGi and www.technologyconcepts.com!

msxml3.dll error ’80072ee2′ on a VB script

0

Ran into this error today on a job we wanted to run every night for a client, but the page takes about 5 minutes or so to come back.  Found out how to extend the timeout here: http://classicasp.aspfaq.com/components/why-do-i-get-80072ee2-errors.html

Here’s the post:

“This means that the site you were trying to parse either could not be found, and the component gave up; or it is taking far too long for the page to finish loading. One way you can avoid this error is to set timeout values that are more conservative, e.g.:

<%
url = “http://www.espn.com/main.html”
set xmlhttp = CreateObject(“MSXML2.ServerXMLHTTP”)

‘ resolve, connect, send, receive – in milliseconds
xmlhttp.setTimeouts 5000, 60000, 10000, 10000

xmlhttp.open “GET”, url, false
xmlhttp.send “”
Response.write xmlhttp.responseText
set xmlhttp = nothing
%>

The four timeout values are as follows:

ResolveTimeout
This value is for the return of a DNS resolution (mapping the domain name to its representative IP address). The default value is infinite.

ConnectTimeout
This value is for establishing a connection with the server, and the default value is 60 seconds.

SendTimeout
This value is the time allowed for sending an individual packet of data to the server. The default value is 30 seconds.

ReceiveTimeout
This value is the time allowed for receiving an individual packet of data from the server. The default value is 30 seconds.  “

Great example of a seating selector

1

I’ve been waiting for Nobuo Uematsu to come back to the United States so I can see him in concert. Yea, nerd alert! I found 1 show in 2011 at the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. As I was in the purchase funnel and trying to figure out were I’d be sitting and what the stage would look like, I found their 3D seating selector.

1. I pick from the area where I would like to sit based on the view of the stage vs. the amount of money I’d like to pay

2. I pick the specific seat that I’d like to sit in while having a true understanding of what my view of the stage would be

Great job Chicago Symphony Orchestra!
