Olivia Munn and Big Latin, the Dynamic Duo!!!

Posted by: Michael Alfaro

Olivia Munn and Big Latin AKA Mike

It was a humid day and took 4 hours of waiting in line, but it was worth it!   The time went by very quickly as I got to catch up on life with Valiant (his pic here), and when we finally got to meet Olivia, she was very pleasant and talkative with all the people that came out to see her, very cool indeed :)

I’d love to tell a story about how I woo’ed her with my electrifying personality and that we cut a deal right on the spot to have Olivia endorse Local Wisdom by allowing us to redesign her website, but then I’d be lying.  I was really more of  a deer caught in headlights as I didn’t really think ahead of time of what I wanted to say to her.  Overall she was really cool, spent more time with each fan then you’d think.  You could tell that she’s had a long day, or “a long year” as she said when I asked her about her day, but she’s really appreciates all her fans who helped make the book deal possible.

If you’d like to see if she’s coming to your city check out her schedule here.  I would suggest going to the signing if you are a fan.  As far as the book itself, I haven’t had time to read much of it yet, but I’m making time this week to read it instead of watching some of my nightly DVR shows :)   I’ll post a review after I’m done.

Hopefully Olivia or her people will read this post and contact Local Wisdom to design her website and bring the Dynamic Duo of Olivia Munn and Big Latin AKA “Mike” together again!

Steve Smith tells Jake Delhomme what he thinks about him….

Posted by: Michael Alfaro

I had a hard time watching this as I’ve drafted Delhomme as my back in a few of my leagues… I hope he bounces back…

“Hey, I know you feel like crap. I mean you’re not a very handsome guy anyways, but the performer, the quarterback? I never really liked you as a quarterback. But as a person, I love you as a person.”

Our Client Jonathan Fass before he was famous!!!

Posted by: Michael Alfaro

Was cleaning out some boxes I had in the house for our garage sale this weekend when I ran into this little piece of history…  Our client Jon Fass of Accelerated Strength fame went to Rutgers along with some of the folks at Local Wisdom.  During that period of our lives, there was a visit by a Penthouse Pet at a local bar, and guess who’s picture got taken for Rutger’s newspaper The Daily Targum….What’s amazing, is the dude still looks the same…must be all that strength training….  so here’s a shout-out to you Jon Fass, when you were just a “Deer Caught in Headlights” as the caption says :)   You’re all growns up now!

Internet Memes, a complation of the awesomeness on the web.

Posted by: RJay Haluko

picture-3So how do you create something legendary on the web? Its a hard question to answer, but I would say humor, horror, and generally outlandish behavior seems to drive users to pass information quickly. Most of these Internet memes start on a message board or an email. Momentum is not always over night. It can take weeks or months till something catches the eye of the masses. Its pretty fascinating that we have come to a point where anyone of us could have 15 minutes(or more) of fame. Majority of the time we just need a camera and good timing, or some misfortune of being filmed by someone with good timing. Creative ideas seem to make a mark as well as terrible executed ones. So creating a phenomenon its a matter of being genuinely awesome… or terrible. Nobody want to see normal, we want the outrageous.

Greg Rutter has a hilarious list of the 99 Things You Should Have Already Experienced On The Internet. His list has alot of this classics, such as grape stomp woman, Shining,  and Leroy Jenkins. Also, the pork chop sandwiches is pretty classic. Its certainly not a definitive list, but its an easy list to go through.

If timelines are more your thing check out dipity.com’s internet meme time line. All the hilariousness and weirdness of the web is broken into timeline spanning back to the early web with descriptions and video.

You could also check out http://knowyourmeme.com/ which attempts to keep a running database of all web phenomenons.

One of the beautiful things about these memes is they deliver a laugh or entertain us in a small bite size amount. Most of us are on the move and want a quick laugh. Most are less than a minute or two. Its like watching just the best scenes in a movie. Some memes even create more memes. Some of the more outrageous memes have given birth to videos that show peoples reactions to watching the original video. Craziness. But you know what? its funny to watch the reactions. The majority of the web is a solitary experience. We watch these reactions and find humor in relating to other viewers’ first time experiencing it.  Feel free to cleanse your pallet on some cuteness.  I know I had to after watching this… man I wonder if they are friends still hah :P
