Apr 14, 2006 - The National Minority Supplier Development (MNSDC) connects minority owned businesses with corporate America. As of April 14, 2006, Local Wisdom is certified as an MBE – Minority Business Enterprise which will allow the council to reach us.  The certification benefits will serve Local Wisdom as well as another members to build partnerships among like-sized business as well as larger corporations within the United States.

“This was the next logical step for us.”, says Shawn Venkat, Manager of Public Relations for Local Wisdom. The NMSDC, whose network includes a National Office in New York and 39 regional councils across the country, provides a “direct link between corporate America and minority-owned businesses”. “With the 3,500 corporate members, it will be a great aid to Local Wisdom as well as a venue to let Local Wisdom provide aid.”, continues Shawn.

In 2004, the NMSDC has contributed to corporate purchases from minority businesses exceeding $87.4 billion.  Beyond sourcing the NMSDC provides a sleuth of services such as: certifications, referrals, and centers of excellence to name a few. This is a great opportunity for mid to small sized businesses to take advantage of.
