Love that they have all the user’s in their regular work clothes, plus one guy takes a call while playing the game. Just plain clever! Like it says, there’s a soldier in all of us! Even Kobe Bryant and Jimmy Kimmel get into the game :)
Just stumbled across this thing through a friend’s link the other day, and I can’t wait to start playing around with it..It is from a company called Emotiv, and is:
“a high resolution, neuro-signal acquisition and processing wireless neuroheadset. It uses a set of sensors to tune into electric signals produced by the brain to detect player thoughts, feelings and expressions and connects wirelessly to most PCs.” (from here).
It seems like it seem to work for some people better than others. There is a YouTube video (shown below) that shows someone unpacking it from the box and trying it out with the supplied demo software. Their results are a bit fuzzy as to how well it works for them, however.
Maybe the console-makers will incorporate this into their next-gen systems? It seems that Nintendo might already be planning to go down this route..Other companies, such as Canadian Interaxon are actively working to integrate thought-controlled computing into real-world scenarios, like recently at the Vancouver Winter Olympics where visitors were able to use their brainwaves to control live lightshows.
For those of you who know me and my DJing past, this will be no surprise. As I was going browsing through the app store I came across Baby Scratch.
It’s basically a turntable with a break beat and sound effects record playing. You can fluidly scratch the record. You can add a beat in the background so you can scratch over it. You can also record your own voice and scratch that. Best of all the app is f-r to the double e (free).
I’ve had the itch to scratch for a long time so I pulled out the iPad and put the app to work. Unfortunately, you can’t scratch your own songs. This is where Flair Scratch comes in.
Flair is a similar app made by the same company. This time you can pick songs from you iPod library to scratch as well as play in the background. Flair is for the OS4. Flare Scratch is $4.99 in the app store.
I wouldn’t DJ a party with these, but it’s a fun time waster!
It was a humid day and took 4 hours of waiting in line, but it was worth it! The time went by very quickly as I got to catch up on life with Valiant (his pic here), and when we finally got to meet Olivia, she was very pleasant and talkative with all the people that came out to see her, very cool indeed :)
I’d love to tell a story about how I woo’ed her with my electrifying personality and that we cut a deal right on the spot to have Olivia endorse Local Wisdom by allowing us to redesign her website, but then I’d be lying. I was really more of a deer caught in headlights as I didn’t really think ahead of time of what I wanted to say to her. Overall she was really cool, spent more time with each fan then you’d think. You could tell that she’s had a long day, or “a long year” as she said when I asked her about her day, but she’s really appreciates all her fans who helped make the book deal possible.
If you’d like to see if she’s coming to your city check out her schedule here. I would suggest going to the signing if you are a fan. As far as the book itself, I haven’t had time to read much of it yet, but I’m making time this week to read it instead of watching some of my nightly DVR shows :) I’ll post a review after I’m done.
Hopefully Olivia or her people will read this post and contact Local Wisdom to design her website and bring the Dynamic Duo of Olivia Munn and Big Latin AKA “Mike” together again!
A while back I put together a media storage unit and posted about it. I was asked by one of our readers to post the instructions/ blueprints so they could build their own also. Well, what the audience wants, the audience gets, so here they are.
I’ve put the details in the images themselves to make it easy to print out. Also I recently made 2 of these of a different width and a different purpose. One was 30 inches wide so the shelving and corresponding silts had to be reduced in width also, but it’s easy to figure out how much to shorten them by. The last unit I made has about 7 shelves and was made to replace a stereo rack. Now the stereo is on the wall with all it’s cd’s, a record player and a small top shelf for pictures, but I’ll post pics later on.
If you have any questions, post a comment and I’ll respond asap :)
This is one of the cooler things ive come across lately. Now you can transform any site into a geocities site with the Geocities-izer. It even adds glorious MIDI music. Flaming torch gifs, nebulas, Im starting to feel sweaty. Im going to lay down .
