How to be interesting (in 10 stupid-simple steps):
1.Go exploring.
Explore ideas, places, and opinions. The inside of the echo chamber is where all the boring people hang out.
2. Share what you discover.
And be generous when you do. Not everybody went exploring with you. Let them live vicariously through your adventures.
3. Do something. Anything.
Dance. Talk. Build. Network. Play. Help. Create. It doesn’t matter what you do, as long as you’re doing it. Sitting around and complaining is not an acceptable form of ‘something,’ in case you were wondering.
4. Embrace your innate weirdness.
No one is normal. Everyone has quirks and insights unique to themselves. Don’t hide these things—they are what make you interesting.
5. Have a cause.
If you don’t give a damn about anything, no one will give a damn about you.

6. Minimize the swagger.
Egos get in the way of ideas. If your arrogance is more obvious than your expertise, you are someone other people avoid.
7. Give it a shot.
Try it out. Play around with a new idea. Do something strange. If you never leave your comfort zone, you won’t grow.
8. Hop off the bandwagon.
If everyone else is doing it, you’re already late to the party. Do your own thing, and others will hop onto the spiffy wagon you built yourself. Besides, it’s more fun to drive than it is to get pulled around.
9. Grow a pair.
Bravery is needed to have contrary opinions and to take unexpected paths. If you’re not courageous, you’re going to be hanging around the water cooler, talking about the guy who actually is.
10. Ignore the scolds.
Boring is safe, and you will be told to behave yourself. The scolds could have, would have, should have. But they didn’t. And they resent you for your adventures.

Kim stopped by my desk, recorded me and then chucked a Missile at me through the Action Movie FX mobile app (Itunes link) . Great stuff, enjoy:
I know, Clever and Microsoft in the same sentence usually do not go together, but this video by the office team is pretty good:
Friendster < MySpace < Facebook < Google+
Let’s all admit that people get tired of these environments after a few years, and starting from scratch elsewhere is something people are willing to do. Especially now that these services are allowing you to take your data with you to the next social network, it’s only a matter of time for the next network after Google +
Is this how you feel after dealing with your internal IT team? Over the years and the numerous clients I have encountered, many if not all are unsatisfied with their IT support. From a communication, leadership, and innovation perspective they are lacking what clients need.
How do I know you make ask? My clients have told me this directly and I have experienced it first hand working as liaison for my clients. I have been in meetings where IT comes unprepared and is making excuses for the lack of progress on a project. They have tried to bamboozle me, but little do they know I used to code AND I have a B.S. in Computer Science so I know what you are trying to do!
Our clients at times have been given a mandate to use internal IT but when they are unable to be cost effective and meet deadlines what are they supposed to do? Bonuses, raises, etc are based on some of these deliverables yet IT doesn’t seem to get it? Why has this become the standard?
Outsourcing you say? Oh yes outsourcing. I have yet to see it work in large companies. I am not saying it can’t, I just haven’t seen it work yet. Bottom line yes, there are cost benefits but with poor communication, lack of understanding corporate culture and being distant from the company mentally and physically how do you effectively provide support? If timelines are longer and the end product is not meeting the business needs doesn’t that cost more?
We all know I could go on an on but I will get back to the topic.
Why are we better?
1. We partner with you to meet your needs
2. We treat you with respect
3. We deliver what we promise
4. We are accountable
5. We are knowledgeable

As we gear up for the 4th season of Mad Men on AMC let’s revisit the previous 3 seasons through an illustrated flicker album by the truly artistic and comedic Dyna Moe. Check out her website no body’s sweetheart (you’re our sweetheart, love) and check out her Flicker Mad Men Illustrated photo-stream.

It was a humid day and took 4 hours of waiting in line, but it was worth it! The time went by very quickly as I got to catch up on life with Valiant (his pic here), and when we finally got to meet Olivia, she was very pleasant and talkative with all the people that came out to see her, very cool indeed :)
I’d love to tell a story about how I woo’ed her with my electrifying personality and that we cut a deal right on the spot to have Olivia endorse Local Wisdom by allowing us to redesign her website, but then I’d be lying. I was really more of a deer caught in headlights as I didn’t really think ahead of time of what I wanted to say to her. Overall she was really cool, spent more time with each fan then you’d think. You could tell that she’s had a long day, or “a long year” as she said when I asked her about her day, but she’s really appreciates all her fans who helped make the book deal possible.
If you’d like to see if she’s coming to your city check out her schedule here. I would suggest going to the signing if you are a fan. As far as the book itself, I haven’t had time to read much of it yet, but I’m making time this week to read it instead of watching some of my nightly DVR shows :) I’ll post a review after I’m done.
Hopefully Olivia or her people will read this post and contact Local Wisdom to design her website and bring the Dynamic Duo of Olivia Munn and Big Latin AKA “Mike” together again!
I couldn’t believe this when I saw it in the store today…. they must have been saving these for a while :) I put this up there with the Alex Rodriguez “Man in the Mirror” photos…. Don’t these guys have handlers to help them from taking photos like this??? They’re in need of some LW Curators to get them out of these messes!!!
