If you’re new to blogging, or if you’re looking to improve your blog writing skills, here are some tips on how to write a great blog post:

  • Choose a topic that you’re passionate about. When you’re passionate about a topic, it shows in your writing. Your readers will be more likely to engage with your content if they can tell that you’re excited about it.
  • Do your research. Before you start writing, take some time to research your topic. This will help you to write a more informative and engaging post.
  • Structure your post well. A well-structured post is easier to read and understand. Start with a strong introduction that will grab your reader’s attention. Then, use clear and concise language to develop your argument. Finally, end with a strong conclusion that summarizes your main points.
  • Use images and videos. Images and videos can help to break up your text and make your posts more visually appealing. They can also help to illustrate your points and make your content more engaging.
  • Proofread your work. Before you hit publish, take some time to proofread your work for any errors in grammar or spelling. A well-written post makes a good impression on your readers.

💭Wait, why am I here?

The Twist

If you’ve gotten this far, you might have noticed that this blog post was informative, helpful, and cheerful. You may have also noticed that it felt a little impersonal at times. That’s because it is.

Welcome to the world of AI – it took about 5 seconds to search “Write a blog post about writing a blog post”… and voila! Here we are. We might as well add “Bard” to the byline to give credit where credit is due.

Look, AI is a great tool (and it’s even more powerful if you know how to use it – more on that below). There’s just one caveat: it’s not human.

Unplugged

I recently attended a half-day conference in Philadelphia hosted by our friends at Firstup. It was called Attune Unplugged, where there were no screens, no presentations, and no distractions. The intent was to be fully present and engaged. It was a fabulous event, complete with confetti cannons (courtesy of Chuck Gose) and paper airplanes with our CEO, Pinaki Kathiari.

During a conference-concluding conversation, the topic of AI was brought up (because of course it was, it’s pretty much all anyone wants to talk about) and there was one quote that really resonated with me. Brett Ludwig, Vice President of Communication & Public Affairs at Lehigh University, declared:

“The thing that is missing from AI is humanity.”

So yes, it is fabulous that I could deliver a blog post to my team in less than 15 minutes; but let’s never forget that there is something special and unique that a machine can’t replace—our humanness.

How To Make The Most Of AI

This leads me to my next point… instead of being reluctant to the machines, let’s lean into how AI can benefit us.

Below are a few tips on how to make the most of AI:

  1. Use it as a starting point, not the ending point. Don’t just cut, paste, and move on. Use AI to get things off the ground and then adjust and evolve.
  2. It’s about the questions you ask. Refine your inquiries. It’s not always what you say, it’s how you say it. Keep pushing and adding different “styles” and caveats to get more effective answers.
  3. Be careful. You don’t always know how the AI is trained. The internet isn’t always an honest place. Enter with a healthy dose of skepticism.
  4. Don’t expect entirely new; expect renewed. AI is helpful in mashing up what’s already out there and offering creative perspectives, but what you’ll see isn’t entirely authentically brand-new.

Our team has used this to generate quick content as placeholders for wireframes (instead of using lorem ipsum content) or to generate new ideas for brainstorming purposes. I can’t wait to see where this world of AI takes us next!
